Information for Potential Members
Audition Process
We will meet (preferably in person) to go through the following:
- Two vocal exercises (one descending, one ascending) to check range/technique
- You will sing ANY song that you LOVE (any genre/period) without accompaniment
- A short sight-reading activity
- Any questions you may have
Fees
- There is a $50.00 music deposit, which is refundable upon music being returned in good condition at the end of the season.
- Choir fees are $300.00 for the full season or $120.00 per term/concert (this option is for those who are not able to sing the full season).
Anyone with any concerns or questions is encouraged to speak with one of the board of directors.
Concert Dress Code
- There are no fees for uniforms/costumes at this point. Singers are asked to wear “concert blacks” — more details will be provided once you join the choir.
Schedule and Expectations
In order to build community and foster musical excellence, attendance is required at rehearsals and retreats. Choir members are expected to make every effort to arrange their schedules accordingly (and may speak to their Section Lead or Artistic Director regarding any conflicts or concerns.)
Singers who miss 3 rehearsals in any term may be excluded from part or all of that concert, at the discretion of the Artistic Director.
Rehearsals start promptly at 7:30 p.m. (doors open around 7:00) and run until 9:45 p.m. every Monday evening at St. Titus Anglican Church. Retreats are generally held on Sunday afternoons with rehearsal from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a potluck dinner afterwards.
There is always a Zoom portal open to include singers who are unwell, and rehearsal recordings are available for all singers through our members’ section of the website. Zoom attendance does not take the place of being together in person, but it is our way of keeping everyone healthy and safe.
